Fall Winter 2016
For Fall/Winter 2016 opposites attract; the emotional and the rational, Victorian and futurist, the romantic and the dark. Geometry and cool steel make up part of this upcoming collection through Fritz Lang’s 1927 German Expressionist sci-fi movie masterpiece, Metropolis. Josep Font looks to nature, his perpetual inspiration, this season with a surreal twist. The digital illustrations of Daria Petrilli, in whose contemporary work nature’s power is both serene yet unsettling, run through the collection. Silhouettes contrast between the geometry of Lang’s Metropolis and Petrilli’s gentle strength. The upper arms become a focal point under napa evening gloves flowered with leather appliqués, paillettes, hand-made embroideries with an industrial aesthetic also seen on ballerinas and evening clutches. The derby shoe is reinterpreted in patent leather and sequins, as is the sling back. Handbags introduced last spring – the ‘Benedetta’ doctor bag, ‘Bo’ satchel, ‘Tyng’ flap bag and ‘Gret’ clutch – take their names from four seminal female architects, resonating with Josep Font’s original architectural training.
